Crib Rail Protectors and the Pumpkin Patch

So I finished the crib rail protectors, I think they turned out pretty great!  This is the link to the tutorial I used if anyone is interested in making some.  On the tutorial she used ties to attach her rail protectors and on the first one I made I did that but then our crazy baby spent all of his free time messing with them and untying them, so we took those off and ended up putting snaps on instead, which has worked out great for us so far.  I did the sewing with the help of a friend and S attached the snaps, so it was a group effort.  Here is Jude modeling them.

This morning we went to a pumpkin patch by our house with Jude’s baby girlfriend.  He was in a weird mood and we couldn’t get him to smile no matter what we did.  My mom is coming into town to visit on Wednesday so I think we might go back with her and try again.  But we did get a few cute shots.  Man I love Halloween!

36 Weeks Photo

Wow, two posts in one day!  I’m  on a roll!

Fall Is Here!

It is starting to get a little bit cooler here in Austin and it is making me so happy.  I love fall and everything about it.  Open windows, long sleeves, pumpkin flavored everything, the holidays will be here soon, it makes me feel so at peace.  Today I finished making a wreath to hang on the front door. I think it turned out pretty cute!

It was super easy to make.  I went to the craft store and got one of those syrafoam rings, wrapped in the gray yarn and then hot glued some felt flowers and leaves onto it that they sold already cut out.  I’m sure I could have bought the felt and made the leaves and flowers myself but these were already so cute and ready to go.  I love a quick craft project that turns out the way you imagined it.

In not so happy new, my cat PJ has gone missing.  He is the best cat that I have ever had.  I got him as a kitten when I was just a freshmen in college.  He even lived in the dorms with me in secret for a month.  He is 12 years old and still just as healthy and playful as ever.  He loves to be outside and it is impossible to keep him inside, so he is an indoor/outdoor cat.  Normally he goes in and out of the house all day long and isn’t normally gone for more than 5 or 6 hours tops.  But now we haven’t seen him in 4 days.  We put up signs around our street and I’ve posted on craigs.list and checked the local shelters but so far no sign of him.  I hope he comes back soon, I’m so worried about him.  Keep your fingers crossed that he comes home!

Jail Baby

Jude is into EVERYTHING now that he is crawling.  If something catches his eye, he just crawls right over and grabs it.  He is the most interested in any tiny little piece of leaf or whatever the dogs have tracked in on the floor, plastic bottles, anything electronic, shoes, and the animals.  I don’t think that even if I was sweeping or vacuuming everyday that I could possibly keep the floors clean enough.  No matter what, he will find something to put in his mouth that he shouldn’t be eating.  Sigh.  Keeping up with a baby that can crawl is hard work.  Jude is also pulling up on everything and anything.  This kid wants to stand and walk!  I won’t be surprised if he is an early walker, but I’m hoping that I’m wrong.  He is going to be such a handful!

He is also teething, again.  I know, how many teeth can an 8 month old possibly have?  Well, apparently he is working on having 8 teeth.  6 already in, one that has broken the surface and one that feels like it can’t be far behind.  And speaking of his teeth, the other day I went to get him out of his crib after a nap and his face had all of these little white flecks all over it.  For a minute I couldn’t figure out where they were coming from and then I saw what he had done.  Little dude at some point during his nap stood up and chewed the edges of one of the sides of his crib.  His crib is white, so the flecks were paint from the crib.  He scrapped some of it down to wood and left several gouge marks.  Jeez!  So today I spent the morning with a friend who can sew making covers for the rails on his crib to keep the little busy beaver from destroying it!  The covers turned out really cute and I should be able to finish them up tomorrow.  I’ll take pictures and show them off once I finish them.

And a bonus picture for you.  We have always had this baby gate up between our kitchen and living room to keep the dogs from causing mischief while we are gone and it is a very convenient way of keeping Jude out of the kitchen were there is just way too much stuff he could get into.  And it works great but he loves the gate.  At least 50 times a day he crawls over to it, pulls himself up, and shakes it wildly.  It’s pretty cute.  Here is the picture of our little jail baby.
