6 Months Old!
Wow, Jude is 6 months old today, or at least 24 weeks, which is the same thing to me, though not to the doctor’s office. Some of Jude’s accomplishments/stats:
*Jude sleeps through the night! But you already knew that :)
*He can sit up on his own for long periods of time
*He eats all sorts of different flavors of foods
*He is in size 3 diapers
*He sleeps on in his crib, even for naps
*He no longer uses a pacifier
*He is no longer swaddled at night
*He can play by himself for up to 15 minutes at a time
*His favorite thing to watch on TV is Yo Gabba Gabba (though he is limited to one episode a day a doesn’t watch anything else)
*He loves to jump and bounce
*He sleeps on his stomach
*He rolls easily from his stomach to his back and from his back to his stomach
*He has two teeth
*His hair has been cut 2 times now, once by me, once by a professional
*He has been to Wisconsin and Oklahoma and next month will travel to California
*He laughs, he smiles, he giggle, he “talks”, he babbles, he shrieks, he screams
He is all around an awesome baby and these have been the best 6 months and the fastest 6 month of my life. Here he is in his 6 month glory this morning!

They grow up so fast
Today Jude is 3 months. Can you believe it 3 MONTHS! I am back at work and Liz is at home with him and we are settled into a routine that works for us. I am trying to do it all. I work, spend every waking moment with him when I am home and am on week 4 of my 9 week 5k training. It’s not easy, but I don’t regret a single second I spend with him instead of sleeping or doing something else.
They grow up so fast. Liz and I were watching a video of when he was just a few days old. He was like a whole different kid. I love the constant growth and changes with him. He always keeps me guessing. How much is Jude going to eat today? How much is he going to sleep? How attentive will he be? He has some regular routine to him, but he seems to be growing and growing and with that his eating and sleeping changes all the time.
A few nights ago, Jude slept from 7pm-2:30am. We were shocked. He then got up and ate 6 oz and slept for an hour, ate another 2 oz and then slept until 7am! Last night, he got up a little more, but ended up sleeping until 9:30am. With all he has been eating and sleeping, I keep expecting to come home from work and him be 2 inches taller.
I was so excited to be there for his first laugh. I am so afraid of missing things while I am at work and I was totally there for his first laugh. Don’t get me wrong, I like being back at work. I just wish it was closer to home. The hour drive to and from is what kills me. I enjoy the adult interaction and doing a job I know I am good at, but I do miss my family. I have pictures everywhere and it keeps me going. Having Jude has made me a much happier person at work. I was really bored and now I feel like my work has purpose…to support my family.
Liz is settling into the stay at home part of life. They have bonded so much and are so amazing together. She is a great mom and I try to support her in her role as stay at home as much as I can by encouraging her to go out with friends when she can and taking him most of the time when I am home.
Jude is so happy. He smiles all the time and laughs now too. I just love his little laugh. He also cries really loud now. I think he found his volume and enjoys using it. He doesn’t cry much, but when he does, he wants you to know.
I love our little family and this new life. Having Jude is amazing to me everyday and even when it is hard and I am tired, I am still the luckiest person in the world to have such an amazing wife and baby.

1 Month Old
I can’t believe our baby is 1 month old today! He just gets cuter and bigger everyday. S took him to her OB follow up appointment today and they weighed him for us and the little chunk now clocks in at 10 lbs 4 oz! Wow! Here he is in his cute 4 week picture.
In other news, S is having some stomach issues. For the last week or so she has been getting sharp intense pains in her stomach at night and the last 2-3 days they have been so bad that she has been crying from the pain and throwing up. So today she went to her general doctor in addition to seeing her OB and they think the problem might be her gallbladder. She is scheduled to get an ultrasound tomorrow to see for sure and depending on what they find, she might have to get it removed. Oy-vey! So much medical drama in our life right now! At least she knows probably what the problem is and we can be on our way to getting her back to normal. It’s been a rough month for S and I’m hoping things start looking up for her soon. But, one piece of happy news from the doctor, S is only 6lbs away from her pre-pregnancy weight. Wowza, baby! Way to go!

Living the Sweet Life
Life with Jude is sweet. Hard sometimes, but so very sweet. Our little man loves nothing more than to be cuddled up on your chest. He loves to lay belly to belly with you and rest his sweet little face on your chest. It actually irritates him a little if S or I aren’t wearing a low enough cut shirt because he likes to have his face touching your skin. He loves to make little happy baby noises when he eats and talks to us all of the time, it is so cute. He has started taking a more active interest in the world around him and I love seeing how his eyes light up when I get home from work and he sees me. I can’t believe that he is already going to be 3 weeks old tomorrow. Time has gone by so so fast. I’m afraid if I blink that he will be a 2nd grader before I even know it.
I have to say, one of the things that makes life as a new parent easier is having such great friends. It has been so nice, several people over the last few weeks have brought us dinner. For some reason it seems like people are mostly bringing us lasagna, but lasagna is good, so we’ll take it! It’s been great to not have to worry about cooking much these last few weeks. And then Jude’s Aunt Lulu and Uncle Duck have made it possible for S and I to be actual functioning people. This last weekend they came over for about two hours and watched the little man while his mamas took a much needed nap and then again last night they watched him while we went out to dinner. And we had a real conversation and both ate at the same time while our food was hot! It was awesome! Our friends are so sweet to take such good care of us and I can’t wait for the opportunity to be able to repay some of their kindness.
In other news, I put in my notice to quit at my job on Monday. Our work schedule is very heavy over the next three months so I wanted to give as much notice as possible to make things easier for everyone. So my last official day will be April 6th. So I still have 32 days of working left (not that I’m counting or anything J), so even though it sounds far away it is really just around the corner. I’m so excited for the opportunity to stay home with little man, but I’m also nervous about it. I’ve been working since I was 14, so I’m not sure what this new life will look like. My boss was very sweet about the whole thing, which made it easier. He said that of course he will miss me and is sad to lose me but that he fully supports what I’m doing and thinks it is commendable. So that helps.
And I know I’m almost a whole week late posting it, but here is Jude’s two week picture. Hopefully I won’t procrastinate so much with posting his three week picture.

Taking a bath!
(BTW, his stump totally had fallen off before this bath, it just looks weird in the picture)
Close up bath time. He isn’t sure what to think about all of this yet.
